I would use a full set of Armax Arsenal armor for the headshot damage and weapon damage. Otherwise, a full set of Hahne-Kedar. If you have it already, the Delumcore Overlay you get near the end of the game goes great with sniper rifles as well. As for full armor sets, Cerberus armor is probably your best bet. Feb 17, 2012.
Sentinel Shepard, Liara, and EDI! Crazy good on Insanity!!!
Overview
This strategy works great for any type of situation in Mass Effect 3, especially when you can use the squad to your advantage by use the combos that I will provide. But first, there are some important things you need.
- Sentinel Class at the beginning of the game
- Liara and EDI
- (Tip) Set the options to where you can control squad power usage.
The Squad
Shepard
As a Sentinel, you have a range of tech and biotic abilities. This is key in your squad composition, as the right characters will change the style of play you use. First off, you will want to level up all of your abilities to get started. You will need specific powers more than others, but its important to start with a variety of options. The three key powers in this squad set up are going to be Overload, Throw, and * Tech Armor.*
Overload
Of course, take ranks 1, 2 and 3 to start. For rank for level up damage, rank 5 level up recharge speed, and rank 6 take the Shield Damage bonus, key for taking out synthetics and barriers alike.
Overload will be important when facing the geth, as lots of them use shields. Also, Banshees can be taken down quite easily (their barriers at least) with 2-3 overloads from you and EDI.
Throw
Probably the most important aspect of this combination will be Thrown, as it sets off the biotic explosions that will be key in surviving, especially Insanity. After ranks 1, 2, and 3; take Force for rank 4, Detonate for rank 5, and for rank 6 you can take your choice, leading to either more damage or two targets (both can be useful).
Tech Armor
This will provide an extra edge on the opposition, and upgrade it as you see fit for your play style.

Others
Warp can also be very effective if you take the Detonate and Pierce perks for it, making it useful for Brutes and Banshees. Cryo Blast is also effective against unprotected enemies. Your Offensive Mastery is also something to keep an eye on, helping with weapon and tech damage and health.
Bonus Power
After you unlock Armor-Piercing Rounds, grab those for 5,000 credits, as they can be very helpful later on. But feel free to choose what ever power you wish.
Liara
Liara needs her singularity upgraded for the most part, taking Duration, Recharge Speed, and Expand when you rank up. Expand actually increases the amount of enemies you'll be able to pick up, leading to quicker ending encounters. As for Warp, this will be useful for more biotic combos, and you should Detonate, Expose, and Pierce. Stasis can be useful for lining up head shots, of that's your thing too, but warp ammo can also be helpful for barriers. Her pure Biotic is also key, if you take the Recharge Speed, Duration and Force, and Singularity Recharge bonuses.
EDI
EDI is especially important for her Overload and Incinerate. Overload will be useful in taking out shield on Marauders, Engineers Centurions and the like, but also incredibly helpful for other enemies (discussed later). Leveling up her Overload is important and you should take the ranks of Damage, Recharge Speed, and Shield Damage. Incinerate can be ranked up to target armor (for brutes and banshees), taking Damage, your choice for rank 5 and armor damage. You can also take the Freeze Combo if you plan on using Cryo Blast in coordination.
Mass Effect 3 Tech Armor Mod
Note: If you choose to take Garrus along with you, make sure to level up his Overload in the same way. You may want to grab Stasis instead of APRs as your bonus power though. Doing this will also lose EDI's Incinerate.
Tactics
Combos
Some Combos you may consider:-Singularity + Throw (Fast recharge + lots of damage)-Singularity + Warp (Warp takes longer to recharge)-Warp + Throw (Effective for enemies unaffected by Singularity, and can stun them.)-Cryo Blast + Incinerate/Overload/Throw-Stasis + Throw/Warp-Incinerate + Throw/Overload-Overload + Throw/Incinerate
Usage
Singularity and Throw will be the combo you use most in this squad set-up, but the others are listed as well for reference. The Singularity/Throw combo offers a very short recharge time and a big explosion to follow up.
Shields
By taking down shields with EDI's overload (not your own) you can use the given combo to create an instant trap for Marauders, Engineers, Centurions, and most geth. This will work for your for the entire game
Banshees, Brutes and Atlases
Mass Effect 3 Armor Customization
Banshees can easily be taken down by destroying their barrier with 2-3 hits of overload (both Shepard and EDI), exposing the shield. Now is a good time for the Incinerate/Throw combo and (while EDI's power recharges) the Warp/Throw combo. This is helpful, as you can stun the banshee with these combos, saving an ally in the Banshees death grip. Brutes are even simpler, as they have no extra barrier to plow through, and Atlases, only replace the barrier with a shield.
Weapons
Use what you see fit, but a big gun can be useful for lining up head shots with enemies in stasis, or, with the credits, the Black Widow can be very effective. By using the penetration mod, armor piercing rounds, and its natural penetrating ability, you can shoot through almost any cover in the game, startling the enemy out for a quick biotic combo.
Liara and EDI can both handle sub-machine guns and heavy pistols. Give them the biggest, heaviest, most damage inducing thing available. Attachments may include the accuracy mod, and damage mod, as those are the two that mostly affect squad mates.
Missions
Priority: Ranoch, Priority: Palaven, and the very begging of the game can be a problem. Without EDI in the beginning or Liara before Mars, you have to make do with James, Ashley/Kaiden, (or Anderson for the first mission). Take cover and push your way through these levels, as you can still pull off combos with the squad mates provided. Priority: Ranoch is also different in that you must bring Tali. Replace EDI with Tali, as you will encounter geth. Tali's combat drones provide some distraction, while your overload can be effective on shields. Sabotage is also useful for this mission, turning Geth Primes against the weaker enemies proves effective, if even just to distract them while you yourself focus on the weaker.
Overview
With the provided tactics you should be able to plow through the game, even on insanity. I was able to complete the game (on insanity), while doing every mission, in about 16 hours. Used correctly, it is a devastating combination. I hope you found this helpful and effective, and if you read to here, thanks!

Whoa! Nice write-up! I love your recommendations for Power upgrades. You were very thorough in providing reasons why to choose specific upgrades over others.

Armor in Mass Effect Andromeda is covered on this page.
Armor Information
Armor gives stat boosts such as bonuses to tech damage, tech duration and such. There does not seem to be protective statistics inherent to all armors like Mass Effect 1. However these drop in the world as loot, and have more variation in statistics than the second and third games. It is unknown how hazard protection factors into this. Armor Upgrades further augment your armor's properties.
These are the following sets and pieces of armor in the game:
Helmet
Helmets are a piece of Armor in Mass Effect Andromeda. Helmets help protect the wearer from hazardous environment and the danger of combat. All helmets provide bonuses that scale up with each rank from 1 to 10, and all helmets have 2 Augmentation slots. The blueprint cost of a given helmet is always the base value +5 or +10 for each rank depending on the helmet.
